Almond Snack Balls - Healthy Snack
"I love it when my clients say to me that they need to have a sweet snack every day"  It's interesting to me that when they say sweet snack they are generally referring to cake, candy, soda or something that isn't going to nourish their body, rather it will be harmful to it, lowering their immune system and potentially adding unnecessary weight to their body frame.

What is unknown for many is that in only a few minutes you can make a snack that will not only give you the sweetness you crave but will also be nourishing to your body.  One snack is the recipe below.  I find that just one of these satisfies my worst craving.

When my father in law was sick and we had to be careful with the food choices he took in due to a diabetic condition, this was one snack he loved, he called them Bonnie's Balls. (it still makes me laugh whenever I make these)  below the recipe you will find a quick synopsis of the health benefits of the ingredients.

Healthy Almond Snack Balls

Ingredients: (preferably organic)

1 cup almond butter
1/2 cup unsweetened shredded coconut
1/3 cup raw honey
1/3 cup pitted medjool dates - about 5 dates
1 tablespoon raw cacao powder - or carob powder
1/4 cup raw sunflower seeds
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
1/2 cup raw sesame seeds - for rolling the balls in - I used black sesame seeds put all of the ingredients (except the sesame seeds) into your food processor and let it run until the dates and everything are mixed in well

roll into 1 - 1 1/2 inch balls and roll in the sesame seeds to coat

store in the refrigerator. - tastes best after they are cold So pick up these ingredients, spend a few minutes tonight and make a batch of these.  It will help with food cravings as they are a protein packed snack filled acids, omega 3 essential fatty 3 acids and healthy sweetness.  I find that one, sometimes 2 will satisfy most of my cravings.
